Governing Body  

    What does the Governing Body do? 

    The Governing Body has three main tasks to carry out: 

• Establish the vision, values and strategic direction of the school. 
• Hold the Senior Leadership Team to account for putting the vision, values and strategy into practice; 
• Ensure that the school’s money is spent wisely and carefully, in support of the school’s vision, values and strategic aims. 
  
  To carry out these three tasks successfully, the Governing Body needs to understand as much as possible about the school’s strengths and weaknesses, and know how the school is operating. So, while we are not responsible for day-to-day management, we spend a lot of time watching, discussing and learning what goes on.  Importantly, we always try to listen carefully to the opinions of children, parents and staff, as the people who know the school best. 
  
  How does the Governing Body work? 
  
  The Full Governing Body meets six times a year.  Every governor is also a member of at least one of our sub committees between these formal meetings, individual governors will visit the school to monitor and observe particular aspects of its operation and improve their understanding of what goes on.
