Starting School
At Uppingham C of E children start school in Ladybirds Class with an enthusiastic and experienced team of staff. We have indoor and outdoor learning areas for children to play and engage in their learning. We want the children to be confident in expressing their ideas, happy to make independent choices and keen to explore the world around them.
We aim to make learning relevant to children’s lives though our themes and learning environment, and we place the pupils’ individual interests and choices at the heart of the classroom so they feel unique, safe, secure and ready to explore.
We recognise the importance of a smooth transition for children and when they start school at the beginning of the year we build up time and opportunities in school gradually so children get the chance to learn all the new routines until they are fully engaged in school life - playing on the playground with the older children is something they are always keen to do!
School lunches are a big event at school and the children are all entitled to a Universal Free School Meal. We have an amazing cook, who ensures that we have a varied menu that will fill everyone up. The company we use is called Love Food and you can find the current menus on our website if you wish to find out more.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
